The Drake is one of those Chicago wedding venues that immediately sets the tone for a timeless celebration. Merrick and Lauren planned a wedding day that was equally elegant, inviting, and deeply rooted in the charm of old Chicago. As a wedding photographer: sign me up every time!!
Lauren wore an off-the-shoulder satin gown with softly draped details through the bodice and a long, flowing veil. Her look was classic without feeling stuffy or overly formal. She paired it with a sleek low bun, simple earrings, and an all-white bouquet filled with roses and soft blooms. Merrick wore a black tuxedo with a crisp white shirt, black bow tie, and a single white rose bonbonnière. Together, they looked right at home against the historic stone archways and grand interiors.
The ivy, soft greenery, and Gothic-inspired architecture created such a romantic backdrop. It felt so tucked away from the city, even though we were right in the middle of Chicago.
The light coming through the archways was soft and flattering, and every corner of the property offered another beautiful place to photograph and for them to say private vows.

We had the most fun capturing portraits by the water and celebrating the union of these two!! Their wedding party was dressed in all black, giving an upscale and cohesive look.
We wrapped up our portraits with some couples picture by the water, before heading back into The Drake for their elegant ceremony.

If you want to have a statement, elegant ceremony: The Drake is your venue.
These two hosted their closet friends and family for a grand ballroom ceremony. With thoughtful floral details and long curtains framing them, they said “I Do” and officially became newlyweds

The reception space was the perfect example of why I love photographing classic Chicago weddings. The room was filled with towering gold columns, crystal chandeliers, candlelight, and layered white florals.
Gold chiavari chairs surrounded tables dressed in soft ivory linens and delicate place settings. Even before guests arrived, the room felt warm and full of anticipation.

These two had a party to remember! From the ornate gold and cream settings, to the joyous dance party! The bride had a sweet first dance with her father, and then the newlyweds cut their cake. Everything was so full of life & celebration. From the toasts to the dancing, these two really know how to throw a party.

And if you’d love to have a photographer who is familiar with photographing in historic venues, reach out to me here! I’d be honored to capture your gorgeous day!
